Richard Serra is universally recognized as among the most influential sculptors working today. His pioneering use of industrial materials and careful incorporation of site are without parallel. Serra’s repertoire is related to Minimalism and Land Art. Equal Intervals, Equal Elevations comprises four geometric blocks of forged steel, similar in width and depth, and in one foot variations in height. The artist meticulously placed the blocks equal distance from one another in the hillside, rendering the site and space a vital element of the work.
